Alisha Piercy

Alisha Piercy is a Montréal-based writer, artist and paintings conservator. Her practice includes the writing of poetry and novellas, large-scale performative drawings, photography and book-objects. She explores the psychological and spiritual conditions of alienation and survival, stances adopted by rebels and romantics in order to reinvent culture. Her projects happen in multiple media, but all are grounded in writing. Her recent drawing and writing deals with a figure she calls the driftheart: What to call this outlaw, the clandestin with no papers for the new country who is full of wanderlust and dreams? The naufragé: sinking, shipwrecked. A flotsamoor who dreams of another life, the what-life, who paces city streets by night with a flashlight in search of the sea.
